Ages 4-7, 1948-51, lived at 4504 Mountview Rd. Across the st. was a wooded area and in the distance "The Old German Home" -- whatever that was. Seem to recall an Athol Ave. as the closest fairly large st. PS 72 for kindergarten and St. Joe's Monastery for 1st grade. Edmondson Village was one of the very 1st US malls. My buddy and I sat on the edge of the potato chip rack in the Food Fair -- a popular mid-Atlantic super mkt. -- and the whole damn rack came down on top of us. Swimming in potato chips. Rotten kids. Gloriously happy days there.

Anyway, any of you folks live there or have knowledge of the area?

There is a massive redevelopment going on in the area between Old Frederick Rd and Edmondson called Uplands. There areas immediately to the north, south, and west of here remain pretty good. The further you go to the east, the less stable it is.

The Edmondson Village shopping center has no fewer than 3 places to buy fried food.
