We are visiting from San Antonio, Texas in a couple of weeks and we would love to try Maryland crab cakes. The searches so far have led me to Bo Brooks, Mo's and Nick's Fish House.

Are these good choices? Or is there a better place to try?

Thank you sooooo much for any help.

Crab Cakes Revealed - YouTube

There are a ton of places that make good crab cakes but I'll still go with Faidleys.

I'd say Faidley's as well. Just be prepared for a little bit of an adventure walking in and around Lexington Market.

If you want to get several different great seafood dishes, I really recommend Mammas on the Halfshell.

If you hurry... it may still be soft shell season.
These are the real treat!

+1

One of the things I look forward to most about Summer in Baltimore. Usually available fresh until late August/early September; bluecrabs molt most often around the time of a full (or new) moon. However, they freeze very well once cleaned, and will last several months in the freezer with little loss of quality.
While MD's hardshell numbers have dipped precipitously, most softies served in this country still come from Chesapeake Bay. I've never really understood the fascination with crabcakes-give me steamed hardshell Jimmies or fried softshells!

I think because living in Texas, we hear about the Maryland crab cakes. Even on menus, how it compares to Maryland. So you all must have the best crab cakes! Lol.

Soft crabs....never even thought about that. I do love crab.

We'll be there in two weeks, we are very excited!

I think you should go for the whole MD crab house experience at Cantler's in Annapolis. I love all of their seafood. Crab cakes are delish. Better yet if you go by boat.
