My boyfriend and I are moving just because. We're from Tennessee. I need to be in a city and preferable biking distance or bus distance to a starbucks (where I work). I know nothing about baltimore. I've like to be fairly safe but in a city. How is Baltimore for that?

Baltimore is currently the crime capital of the US. I'm looking to move there too because the real estate is reasonable and there are tons of nice houses. I live in DC and the cost of living is unrealistic. Same with Boston.

Default Understand....check this out....

See my posting at: //www.city-data.com/forum/maryl...rylanders.html

There are areas just southwest of Bal'mer that are low crime and affordable and some are within walking distance of the MARC trains into DC. For the same commuting time as many in Northern VA or Montgomery/Frederick counties, you can have a decent home for half the cost, and get some decent culture thrown in.

If you do decide to go up to the Halethorpe area, contact me on the list and I'll give you some pointers on places to eat (great crabcakes) and specific areas to look at.
