There were riding stables near Sinclair and Bowley's Lanes. One was called "Wagon Wheel"; another was "Pinto"; and there may've been a third one. These stables may have also supplied the horses for the "Ayrabber" wagons that prowled our back alleys with produce -- not sure about that -- but they definitely were riding stables for those who could afford to pursue that hobby -- not me. What became Sinclair Lane was at that time in the mid-1950s nothing but a narrow dirt lane. Anyway, I was wondering if anone recalls them, has tales to tell, etc., especially when were they no longer in use?

Before my time.

Where do the Arabbers put the horses now? I have never seen stables in Bmore.

Wasn't aware that Ayrabbers are still active. The only stables I've ever seen in town are the ones previously referenced around Bowley's Lane. However, there was a thread in this group earlier this year, where posters referred to the locations of various stables in the inner city.

There was an Arabber's stable at Jefferson St and Madeira or Duncan that has since closed-maybe 6-7 years back. From what I understand, the very few remaining Arabbers stable their beasts at Pimlico.

Jefferson St really? Not going to find one around there no more.
