Today's Baltimore Sun has a story about it. What's really "interesting" about the opening is crowd control: The Orioles will be playing in-town for virtually all of next week, making parking and visiting local businesses difficult at best.

The MTA will be monitoring the light rail and the single bus line that goes by the casino. The city has made plans to extend circulator service to Russell St. I didn't know it was possible to get from the Hamburg light rail stop to the casino; only the most patient (if in a group of friends) or determined persons would attempt the walk. The #27 stops at the casino about every 30-45 minutes (depending on the day and time), which would not make the line a good way to get there while serving the people moving between downtown and the Greyhound station, Cherry Hill/Westport, and Walmart.

I have been wondering about it - their target market is people attending O's and Ravens games, plus tourists. I'm sure they also want to draw from the young professional population living around the harbor. Hopefully, there will be new development in the form of retail and dining to make the walk from Hamburg St more appealing. I'd like to check it out, and probably would go once every month or two if it's easily accessible via transit. I have a friend visiting in mid-September - I'm sure we'll take a taxi so we can check it out for dinner and a few games. I can only see myself spending the money for a taxi if I have out of town guests who want to go.

I actually just came from Russell street about an hour ago. No traffic at all, not even at the baseball game, mostly foot traffic. Maybe later on.

You're not supposed to think about that. Think about the increased education funding, instead.

You right how pessimistic of me. I will have a open mind about this wonderful new development. And maybe some of the revenue can go to the already flawed BPD to protect the projected increase in crime downtown.
