We live in WMD, but I'm taking the BF to Bmore tomorrow for a little getaway for his birthday. Just an overnight stay in the harbor, dinner, and the like. Can anyone recommend somewhere to go see blues/jazz? Or anything really that isn't the 20-somethings club scene? Open to suggestions. Thanks!

This pub in Fells Pt. almost always has live music, often blues, and attracts a more mature crowd (though the old folks can get rowdy):

Cat's Eye Pub ~ Fells Point Pub

Another nice spot nearby with decent food and live music:

Baltimore Live Music at The Admiral's Cup | Fells Point, Baltimore, MD

If you're into Irish music, this pub is a short jaunt north of the harbor:

Mick O'Shea's | Your Local Neighborhood Pub in Downtown B-More

Also, Sullivan's Steakhouse at the inner harbor often has live jazz in the bar (if you don't mind expensive drinks and chain restaurants):

If you want to socialize with a whole lot of drunk 20 somethings from the burbs, hit Fells Pt. The Cat's Eye is terrific! That is if you want to STAND all night with a drink in your hand, shoulder to shoulder with kids with fake IDs while listening to a band crammed into a corner of the bar, you'll love it. Trust me.

You're accurately describing the Fells Pt. bar scene of more than a decade ago. Fells is a lot more upscale these days, old timer. The kids go to Power Plant, Canton square, or Cross St.

Gotta go with Rudy on this one, Cat's Eye gets crowded, sure, but that is because is books bands worth seeing and attracts decent crowd. Even the Waterfront Hotel down the block attracts a decent crowd, younger but still post college professional (always hot chicks in there!). Bertha's is great for blues ans jazz as well, has the great guitarist Paul Wingo on Tuesday nights, awesome bassist Jeff Reed has a trio there on Thursdays, weekend line up changes, but always very good.

I think you're describing Federal Hill, not Fells.
