Anyone know of any good bars in either Baltimore City, Baltimore County, or Anne Arundel County?

There are countless interesting and fun places in Baltimore City. What kind of atmosphere are you looking for? What age group? Loud or quiet? Club or pub?

I would suggest checking out the The City Paper... The Latin Palace, Sonar, Mosiac, The Red Maple are a few in Baltimore City...

Fells Point in Baltimore has a ton of bars. Just bar hop around there.

Default Oldtime bars are gone

If you are looking for an oldtime neighborhood bar, you are a couple of decades too late. Such neighborhood bars used to dot every corner in working class neighborhoods. Their decline began with television sets and airconditioners. The disappearance of shift was another blow.
A stereotypical hangout of that era had a restaurant part with silver-haired waitresses. It had a separate "Ladies' entrance." Many bars were stag. In summer heat a constant stream of patrons -- or their kids -- would stop by with bottles and pails to take some draft beer home.
Perhaps some other posters know hidden gems. I can think of only a dozen of so places that would qualify as neighborhood taverns. However, it just so happens that two of them are at the corner of York Road and Northern Parkway: Frank's and Swallow in the Hollow.

There's a really great neighborhood bar (as Barante describes above) in my neighborhood. They also serve the best cheesesteak sub in Baltimore.

Default 4100 Club

You should try the Club 4100. I am not even going to try to describe it, but it is exactly how i pictured Baltimore. The address: 4118 4th Street Baltimore MD 21225.

Do you mean Jerry's? (it's also Swallow AT the Hollow). CVP and Midtown Yacht Club are also excellent neighborhood bars in Charles Village and Mount Vernon, respectively.

My apologies. I did have those names wrong.

IT seems as though Highlandtown has many neighborhood bars still going. I like the Knotty Pine quite a bit.
