Nope. Tragedies happen and its a shame when they do, but emotional sadness does not invalidate logic.

You can't just say "Oh, there was a tragedy, I'll blame that item, said item must be evil." when its just untrue.

Which of these dogs do you think was in the news for mauling and killing and dismembering an baby in the crib?

Guess we should put their entire breed down right?

HOWEVER, that is a very poor argument to say that the dogs are bred to be vicious or uncontrollable. Quite the opposite. When dog fighting was legal back then, one of the major rules was, any dog who makes an attempt to bite/lunge/attack his handler or the judge was immediately disqualified.

Thus, you needed a dog that you could reach in and grab in the middle of a match and he wouldn't show aggressiveness towards you. Viciousness or uncontrollablility are exactly the qualities that would have been bred OUT of a line of fighting dogs.

Now, as for your other qualities, a dog being "trained to kill" is not the same across species. Example, the killing you're thinking of (ratters, rabbits, vermin) is not a random desire to kill. Its called "prey drive" and its just a natural instinct to chase what they perceive as prey. People are not included in this at all. Dobermans (which I have) Pits, Shepards, and several other breeds instinctual prey drive is directed towards a very specific size and shape of animal. (Cats, rodents, rabbits, etc). Alternatively, retrievers typically have a strong bird prey drive. They don't see a horse, or another dog, or a baby and think "ooohh prey! Kill!" My old golden was crazy for ducks, pigeons, etc. Totally disinterested in vermin.

Sorry but anyone that thinks Pits are just genetic killing machine thirsting for blood doesn't know what they are talking about.
Sorry, the bottom line is that Pit Bulls/Am Staffs are responsible for the a highest number of human fatalities caused by dog bite/attack injuries, and the numbers are disproportionately higher than all other breeds.

Love this.
