I think the best example of the disintegrated regional transportation system is the Megabus stop in White Marsh. I can't imagine folks who want to visit or need to be in Baltimore for family or business being dropped off in the middle of a suburban shopping center 12 miles from downtown with no access into the city. That's like taking a bus to Washington, D.C. and being left in the middle of an Applebee's parking lot in Greenbelt, a good 5 miles or so from the Metro.

I think that MegaBus sees the traffic as originating at White Marsh and going to NYC. In that case it makes sense since most customers will arrive in cars and need parking. I don't think they see Baltimore being a destination city.

Every single time it snows, and working people foolishly rush to metro stations to avoid driving, metro greets them with nice surprise - unexpected emergency with the train or with the tracks. Sometimes with the both.
They are never ready for temperature drops. It always catches them by surprise.

Disclosure - 4-year veteran metro commuter.

I remember seeing that in Farragut West when I was there two Saturdays ago.

Yeah Bolt Bus and Greyhound (which owns it) have the City on lock with their down by the Casino and up on Maryland Ave near Penn. I also wouldn be surprised if the City wouldnt allow Mega to service Baltimore City because of parking/curbside issues.. and they probably want some type of "fee" for operating inside..

All of these buses should be consolidated around Penn.. But I have read why that will not happen... With the area growing in popularity.. it would make sense..but unfortunately.. this is Baltimore and what makes sense doesnt always translate....

"Even though Baltimore only has one subway line, it's still a solid line and something that Baltimore locals should be proud of. I also find Baltimore subway stations to be a lot cleaner than New York City, Philly, and even Boston."

GW, you know I respect most of your points and positions..but NOT on Baltimore's transit system where you constantly keep praising the city's system which is hot garbage compared to other east coast cities!!! If being a clean is the only criteria your measuring a transit system, then, your missing the point. Taking Baltimore subways, I don't see any vibrancy in the stations. Where are the local news/food stands, local entertainers singing, pan-handlers beggin', street kids hustling, street vendors selling their wears?!! Baltimore's stations are sterile as their suburbs.

If the Red line is not stopped it would improve the transit in Baltimore.
