I'm not sure chic is the word I would use, but it's definitely trending up in popularity lately

Being from DC I've always thought of Baltimore as being a cool city, especially since DC can be bland, sterile and tad bit more conservative in some ways. And for anyone from the DC area who disagrees with me you probably just have a bit of bias, but it'ls okay to agree to disagree Baltimore is more laid back, has a lot of cool bars and shows, cool eclectic stores, lots and lots of hipsters, lots of down to earth white people that are similar to their black counterparts, a cool a$$ harbor, and now a casino. Baltimore is cool idc what anyone says.

But is it as cool as Philadelphia?

But yeah, compared to DC, Baltimore definitely has characteristics of a much better down-to-earth electric city!

Meh....

In a lot of ways Baltimore and Philly are kinda similar but they are both about the same on the cool scale. Philly is much more of a metropolitan city with more hustle and bustle not to mention its twice the size of Baltimore but for some reason I still think Baltimore has the edge, mainly because of its weirdness. There is no city in America that's more weird than Baltimore.

That's cute.

Weirder than LA, New York, Portland, San Francisco, Oakland, New Orleans, Santa Cruz, Austin, Savannah, etc.? It's weirder than Philly or DC I'll give it that, but it's got some competition from the aforementioned cities on that factor.

I'm mostly referring to the white neighborhoods of DC which fits that description entirely. Dupont, Logan, Capitol Hill, Tenlytown, Woodley Park, Friendship Heights, etc are all sterile and yuppie hell. Fells Point, Hampden, and Federal Hill are very cool neighborhoods that happen to be mostly white but not stuck up like their D.C. counterparts. I was down Powerplant Live last month and the vibe was so cool and not pretentious. I love my hometown but it's gotten so stuck up now.
