I heard that Baltimore's Horseshoe casino is not doing to well financially compared to Maryland Live? Any news on this?

Not surprise. All it is is a casino. They should have built the infrastructure, shops and restaurants first before opening the casino kinda like how they did for National Harbor. The stores, restaurants were there first, now they're building the MGM.

Yep that's why I prefer MD Live. There is a huge mall plus the restaurants and shops outside to go to. People can come and go between the two.
People can go into that area to shop and happen to "drift" into the casino to test their luck.

At Horseshoe a person is basically there with one purpose. There is nowhere to take a break, and come back later.

I suspect evenutally the storage warehouse will be demolished and turned into a key hotel site which will connect it with the Stadiums. I walked from Hamburg St to the Casino during a Ravens game and it was a nice walk.. I cant say I would make it at night with a $100 bucks in my pocket.. But if there was a hotel/retail where Gameday Warehouse and the storage warehouse is.. that could change that..... Both Casinos suffer from lack of quality four/five star hotels being adjacent to them.. That is why National Harbor is going to run circles around them and leave them to tour buses and leisure players.....which is fine.. but may not draw in the $$$ as originally envisioned...

> I know leave Gameday Warehouse alone......

Actually there are some nice hotels near Maryland Live. The Aloft, Element, Hampton Inn, Hilton Gardens and a Homewood Suites. I never understood why the area around the Horseshoe casino wasn't better developed. The decisions made here are always half baked and half assed.

That Holiday Inn is not going to attract the kind of gamblers the city wants. There must be shuttles from the hotels on Pratt street.

Maryland Live had a 2 year head start ahead of Horshoe Casino. So revenue should be higher at Maryland Live. Atleast for now.

Yeah.. I wasnt trying to imply that they are roach motels or anything like that but ..it seems that most serious gamblers like a hotel/casino as opposed to having to walk outside and jump in their ride with their loot. I recall a story where two Africans were followed back to their hotel some distance away and robbed at gunpoint and tied up. Sure someone could follow you back to your room in a casino hotel too...but security is more tight atleast the monitoring as opposed to those who have to leave the property. You can always go back to your room come back later and cash in or wait until you check out...

Also the nicer the hotel.. the more people will likely want to stay there whether they gamble or not.. It could appeal to a wide range of guests/events...Casino Hotels also likely have a more lively social scene at bars/restaurants and related entertainment.

Sitting around gambling is lame, even in Vegas. I like playing the Sportsbook though.

Heard on NPR this morning that for the first time ever Casinos in MD were reporting a short fall, as compared to previous year(s).
Oddly enough, that shortfall pretty much exactly equaled Horseshoe Casino's reported gross sales during that same period.
