Hi, I will be moving to MD in the next few months. Wanted to look into IVF clinics in the area, will be living outside of B-more (in the burbs)...probably 40 minutes away from B-more. Anyone have a recommendation for an IVF clinic, with highly skilled docs with some bed side manner? Someone recommended a doc with John Hopkins and I am just wondering if anyone else has an opinion...thanks...

I was an oocyte donor and the recipient couple used Dr. Berger who has an IVF practice in Union Memorial Hospital. As a donor, I found his beside manner to be matter-of-fact...not very nurturing, however, I think that my role in the IVF could've played a part. I know his practice is very successful, so I guess you have to weigh your wants and decide. I do know that the couple conceived on their first transfer and their baby was due May 2007 (The mother elected not to continue communication during her last month..I guess that helped with separating me from the unborn child).

I hope this info helps.

We used the Shady Grove fertility clinic in Columbia. We only used them for IUIs but they also offer IVFs. I really liked the staff and had a very good experience there.

Hi, I used to work for Genetics and IVF in Fairfax VA. Great place! Ethical, concerned, committed. Ask for Dr. Mike.
God Bless,
Colleen

Dr. Stillman and Shady Grove Fertility - we used the one in Rockville/Shady Grove, as well as Frederick for some blood monitoring, etc.
Great facility and they are open 365.
They also take tons of insurance plans.

There is also one in Towson, MD, Fertility Center of Maryland. I used them. I thought the staff was very professional and caring. But, this was back in 2000-2001 time frame, so I am not too sure about them now.

Good luck to you!

I loved Shady Grove's practice in general & I went to the one at Columbia. My Dr was Timmreck (very professional, well informed) but it just happened that during my treatment I saw Dr Osheroff much more and LOVED him! Cant say enough about their office staff and nurses as well.

SG has several offices so you could pick the one closest to where you live or work. The Columbia office is closed weekends so you'll have to schlep it to their Annapolis or Rockville office for any b/w or u/s that occurs on a weekend.

Default fertility md

We have used two different fertility clinic. Do not recommend Johns Hopkins!!!!! Dealing with the billing departments is a nightmare. Nurses are nice but when we had questions were told we could only speak to our doctor by making an appointment. Hopkins is more expensive than Shady Grove and far less organized. Having to constantly deal with billing mistakes by the different departments ( including double payment on bills, being billed for bills the insurance paid etc) just adds alot of stress to an already stressful process. Shady Grove is very professional, more affordable, has excellent financial counseling and has a large client base.
