I hear ya - I got no love lost for the Yankmes or Red Sawx - just hate to see blowouts, really in any sport. I like underdogs and like to see the love spread around (unless there is someone evil with a team or they do crappy things like the Yankmes unsportingly buying wins, how hypocritically American...)

I totally get that and agree. I am naturally inclined toward the underdog or I would certainly not be a Mets fan!

Blowouts are boring, but when I think of spreading the love around, I think of it more broadly, over the course of a whole season or even multiple seasons - which is what makes baseball so awesome. You can get blown out 14-0 one game and win the next two and still take the series.

I don't feel bad about the Phillies getting blown out or being bad this year because they won a WS not too long ago. So, I see them taking their turn at the bottom as spreading the love.

Why do Baltimore fans hate on the New York Yankees and the Boston RedSox??!! Is it because people are always beating up on Baltimore? All these teams share the same division, have historical relevancy and significance and are overall good squads.

Because they're in the same division and therefore are considered rivals. I can't stand the Phillies, Nats, and Braves (none of which are terribly storied franchises except maybe the Braves) because they're in the Mets' division - they play each other 18 times a year and are competing directly against each other for the same playoff spot. You're supposed to hate the teams in your division.

Yankees buy their championships - how ironically American!

I loved the Sawx until after 2004 (rooted for them hard in the ALCS to come back from 3 games down to NYC), but the behavior of their fans during countless interactions afterwards spoiled that for me. I respect Toronto, like to see the small market/low payroll Rays win and love dem O's hon!

I was at the game in the first week of July, 1980, where somebody had snuck into Memorial Stadium the night before and burned "SOX SUX" into the grass.

So, it's the All-Star Break. How is everyone feeling about their respective teams?

The O's hung close for quite awhile, but the Yanks are starting to pull away and the O's did not distinguish themselves going into the break (much to my chagrin; I was really hoping they would help me out by beating up on the Nats, but alas...). I think that they can definitely still contend, but they are showing that they are a weaker team than last year.

The Mets continue to be a pleasant surprise. I always knew our pitching was top notch (and it has been), but the fact that we are right in the hunt at the ASB despite how dismal our offense has been is pretty miraculous, if you ask me. I think we need a big bat before the trading deadline to push us over the threshold into a playoff caliber team, but I am not confident our GM will pull the trigger.

Still half a season of baseball left and I'm excited to see what it has in store.

I am thrilled with how my Bucs are playing. We have great starting pitching, a solid bullpen, and the bats are starting to come around......although still not what we need to make a deep run, IMO.

I think we will be really tough in a 5 or 7 game series because of our top 3 starting pitchers. The trick, or course, is to get that far. That one game play-in is a coin flip, and even after taking 3 of 4 from the redbirds, I am not sure we will catch them and avoid the play-in game.

DP, you just don't like New York or Boston for some whatever reasons most Baltimoreans don't like these teams. People in this town act like it's a cardinal sin to like a team outside of your area. That is ignorant and mere rubbish! I like and support whoever I choose to like! They have NO justifiable reason not to like them, just dislike them cause they share the same division as the Orioles.

Dude, you can defecate all you want on the New York Yankees. You wish Baltimore had a winning record, accompanying them with a complex history of being a baseball team in America. Your hate shines bigtime!
