As I've said previously, the issue under O'Malley was that road funding to every jurisdiction in the state was cut by 95% except Baltimore City.

And the loudest objections to that came not from the rural Counties but Montgomery and, to a lesser extent, Prince George's Counties.

Leggett talked briefly at that time about suing the Administration.
What the rest of the state and especially Montgomery Count have always been after is the extra allocation of local roads money that the city gets for not having state highways. I believe that is why the city allocation was cut so much less. Hogan probably won't touch this (because he is more pro-road than he is anti-Baltimore) but a future Democratic governor from Montgomery County might try.

Hogan says he will change Maryland's perception as anti-business, but his administration is killing projects that will create thousands of jobs and promote economic growth.

Larry Hogan, Republican Governor

“CLOSED FOR BUSINESS”

Hogan, Christie, Scott in Fla and Walker in Wisconsin all killed hi speed trains or subway light rail projects in their respective states in the last 5 years. Republicans don't like improved or mass transit, they like to fix roads. I don't know if there is a bias against moving ppl back and forth or what their logic is. It makes no sense to me. That's why I don't put a lot of hope on that maglev train that Hogan supposedly likes. Don't bet on it during his time in office anyway.

Republicans don't like public anything, jobs, schools or transportation. If it's not privatized and not making money for their "business partners" or those in business, it's a non starter.

One of the problems is the mass transit is costing the state a lot of money and I'd be willing to bet the fares barely keep up with the maintenance. The next question is who is supposed to foot the bill to keep it going? Since I don't use mass transit, I would be highly against it (if it costs me such as increase in taxes) and refuse to contribute towards it.

Especially, in a largely African American city such as Baltimore, this bias is evident.

Republican white males are ALL about turning a profit for themselves and their "business partners." It's business as usual with these individuals.

If Jesus the Christ came down from heaven with a check for $50B in his hand and told Hogan, "go ahead and build this Red Line, this one is on me!!!" Hogan would defy his word and cash the check, pocket the money and go grab a bucket of KFC.

Martin O'Malley would be driving the car with Hogan to KFC
