It may not help me as I'm going to be there in about 12 hours, but….it can help others for later...
…any good good mid-range to upscale restaurants in the immediate area of Rte 40 and the Beltway? OR from Rte 40 near Academy or Rolling Roads?

Far as I can tell, the best I've seen for so-so chains Applebees or Panera.
I'm meeting a friend for lunch on short notice, and I don't know any of the independent places that might be good.

So far I'm leaning toward taking a chance on a pho place on North Rolling Road that had good reviews on Yelp. I know it's not mid-range of higher. But if I'm going to take a chance…it might as well be with something simple like soup.

I'd even be happy with a Texas Road House or GOOD!!! sushi or eat-in Chinese place.

Thanks

Matthews 1600 on 1600 Frederick Rd, Catonsville. That is east of Rolling Road. Reservations at 410-788-2500.

I'd second this recommendation. Great crab cakes and definitely shareable.

Went to Matthews 1600. Liked it, and will recommend it.

Had never been to Catonsville….didn't know it had a little "old town" area on Frederick Road. It was cute. Worth a walk through. Had independent/small shoppes and a couple of little places to eat there.
