Hello all

My nephew will be married in Baltimore, and I am planning on which hotel to stay in. At the moment, I have it narrowed down to Linthicum Heights area, or Inner Harbour area.

My parents will be with me, and they are in their 70s and 80s, with some mobility issues. We will need decent access to the Edgewood area, without getting too mired in bad traffic.

Would love local opinions on which area might work best as far as relative safety and quality of hotels in each area.

Thanks so much!

Edited to add: It isn't Edgewood we need access to, but, rather, Edgemere, near Sparrow's Point.

Generally, Linthicum is going to be quieter (even though it's right next to the airport) and safer than staying downtown. Where exactly in Linthicum were you thinking about staying?

Also, if you need access to Edgewood, why are you planning to stay in Linthicum or downtown rather than somewhere to the northeast of Baltimore?

Plan to rent a car and drive far far far closer to Edgewood where the family and events are.
Try to be where the OTHER out of town guests are staying. Motel Link HERE

Neither the Inner Harbor or Linthicum help the plan one bit.
But if the folks are up to it an afternoon in Baltimore could be nice too.
Plan it for the return trip from Edgewood to the airport (in Linthicum) map LINK

I would reconsider where you stay based on distance as others have said. Is there someplace where most of the wedding guests will be staying? That might be a better choice.

Hi there

I chose those two areas more out of visually looking at a map.

As I look at it again, it is not Edgewood ... but Edgemere. Near Sparrow's Point.

Rhaethe -

How are you and your parents getting to Baltimore? If you're flying to BWI, and you want to stay near the airport, then there are plenty of choices for lodging, and Edgemere isn't that far away, just up the B/W Parkway (Md 295) to the Beltway (I-695) and over the Key Bridge.

But if you're driving here, or proximity to the airport isn't a concern, then I'm sure you can find lodging somewhere on the east side of town that would be more convenient to the event.

I've never seen the name "Rhaethe" before. How is that pronounced, please?

We'll be flying in So it looks like I'll stick to the Linthicum Heights area / near airport for ease.

Pronounce it just like "wraith"

Thanks

OK. There are several of the big name hotels in the area. I really can't make any recommendations for lodging. But I can recommend a good restaurant in the area for lunch or supper. Check out Snyder's Willow Grove. It's been owned and operated by the same family since 1938 (their location changed recently). Great crab cakes and soft crabs, and other seafood and non-seafood selections. I worked there as a bus boy for a few months when I was in high school, and my wife worked there as a cook for a few years. It's in Burwood Plaza Shopping Center on Baltimore & Annapolis Blvd. (Md. Rt. 648), just south of the Beltway (I-695).

Just to be clear, there is really nothing in Linthicum other than hotels close to the airport. Sparrows Point is just as easily accessible from the Harbor as it is from Linthicum. If there is an Oriole's game that day you will be looking at a lot of traffic in either location. Unless you are flying in just to attend the wedding and leave immediately, I would go with the Inner Harbor.
