The Port Covington project was a joke from the beginning, both financially and from an urban planning perspective. Mr. Plank and his partners were able to BS the mayor and city council because politicians like developers; developers put money into their pockets. The city of Baltimore would be a lot better off if the development were not built, or were built in another location.

The mayor and city council never listen to the average working folk in the various city neighborhoods, but the fools keep voting for them.

This is exactly why we aren't, as a city, getting anywhere. The mayor and city council are blind to what actually matters, and would rather listen to someone who "feeds them dreams and money". It's sad.

There are two Baltimores There is New Baltimore around the water where developers and city leaders pass money around and engage in pay to play politics while setting themselves up for future jobs or higher political office. The bulk of city council but not all are infatuated and thus represent New Baltimore. The vast majority of us live in between this area on the other side of the guilded wall and in between it and Baltimore County.....i dont know what they call this area now but it used to be called Baltimore City

Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank steps down from American Manufacturing Council

It seems that this flake is no longer interested in manufacturing. I guess he will keep up the Port Covington scam as long as the city council keeps throwing money at him.

No matter what you think of the TIF deal, the land has great potential. Heck, other sites on the peninsula are getting built on like crazy. Why not Port Covington?

This is what is important: UA, Sagamore, etc. shouldn't get any money unless they actually build something. If the project fails (and I don't think it will completely fail) without taking any city money, it won't have cost the taxpayer very little - and Plank would be on the hook for millions in design costs. Developers like Donald Trump would simply walk away from from those kinds of debts, but I don't think Plank could get away with Trump level hucksterism.

Since when do politicians listen to the middle class ? The middle class to them is nothing more than a tax base. We need to rid ourselves of the current mayor and the likes

So far, the promised development has not broken ground to the surprise of not many.
