Another interesting Census data point is that the birth rate was way below the national average throughout the area, including in Baltimore City.

The truth is that after may hours of study, I can't make any sense of the 2016 numbers. The 2016 data show an abrupt change in trend that will have to be confirmed in future years... or not.
I apologize for lazily lumping everyone together. I considered clarifying, but hoped it was clear which commenters I thought were ruining the thread. And, frankly, I was just angry that no matter how many Baltimore subforum people I add to my ignore list I still can't get through a page of comments without overt racism/sexism and entirely absent moderators ruining what otherwise seemed like an interesting discussion topic. Oh well, goodbye to LSone and InchingWest. Here's hoping 10 more won't replace them.

The tone does change quickly when referring to a certain group of the Baltimore City population.

The only way to discover anything is to drill down to who's leaving, who's staying, where are they going, where are they coming to.

I don't have the time, or rather the desire, so I'll let one of you do it.

I hate using the phrase "drill down", by the way.

Does crying help? You forgot to call people who disagreed with you (whom you can't refute), Nazis too. An education would help.

On average, White men only earn as much as Asian women....while Asian men are way, way above. They know something and it's being well educated.

This is probably the main factor. Black family units were around 70% intact (father & mother), even during the Jim Crow period. It was that evil scumbag Lyndon Johnson and his "Great Society" programs that wrecked the Black family by, ie. giving incentives to receiving welfare should the Father is absent. I believe that this was social engineering. Then there's the glorification of Single Motherhood, like being a tramp earns you a medal. Let's get back to calling them "sluts" and their children "bastards" so they stop that ****. And Merry Christmas.

Just a general commentary as to why the inner cities are so f'ed up like, ie. Bmore, that now the good Black people are leaving. Asians in general, prioritize education and have the highest median income for over 30 years straight. There's something to learn from them about having a strong family unit.

And there are Asians in Bmore, they're the merchants who are willing to dodge bullets for a buck

I don't want to pick on Asians in particular, because they aren't the only people that do this, but there is certainly a group of Asian property owners that are into bare knuckle speculation (and completely not into improving degraded property.) Just yesterday I was talking about hard-nosed speculators in Station North. My conclusion: those folks weren't willing to invest in their structures when the were worthless because they were worthless. Now that the properties are worth something, they don't want to invest because they know that people that want to improve the neighborhood will have to buy them out because of the damage that deteriorating buildings cause to the area as a whole. Heads? They win. Tails? You lose. This is America and they have every right to try to make a buck any way they can, but that is the only thing that is going on here.

You really don't need to pick on any group of speculators because the Baltimore City government has entire departments dedicated to harassing property owners to improve their properties, or at least that is the reason that they lead the public to believe those departments exist.
