Because I'm ever optimistic, and because the murder rate slowed down a little bit towards the end of 2017, I am going to say 325.

well seeing that neither the mayor, the state's attorneys office, the courts or the police are doing anything to protect city residents, i'll say 400.

That is of course if their reporting is factual. If someone is shot and they clearly have enough drugs in their system for an overdose what are the reporting, a murder or an overdose. You would be surprised how the murder rate is skewed

This is tragic. As a mother, I could not imagine losing a child to this type of violence that perpetuates in this city everyday. I don't know what the end game is but it's not good for the families in Baltimore that are trying to live and raise their kids in spite of these bulls... killings. This will affect people in Baltimore for generations to come.

My suggestion is if you can get out, get out and start life somewhere else. I don't know if a new police chief, new mayor or anything at this point will change things.

Don't forget - 87% of homicide victims had criminal records, and the majority were black males aged 18-30. If you make smart decisions (don't walk around West Baltimore at night, and there isn't much of a reason to be there anyway unless you live there), you're just as safe as in any other city. Only like 40 homicide victims didn't have criminal records which really isn't bad.

Leaving is the bottom line. I am a senior and have a difficult time figuring out how to do this. People who can leave are leaving at an alarming rate. The population is currently the lowest it has been in over 100 years. This being the case politicians are just likely to increase taxes in order to fund services. The number of police in the city is also down considerably. The police dept. is now trying to recruit from non American English speaking countries. I wonder why. I don't even live near the heart of Baltimore and I never see children playing outside. That is sad because that is all we used to do, play outside.

Yes but even that is changing. Do you think that people who use drugs are just going to rob other criminals.
How do you know who is the criminal and who isn't. And what about my freedom? I can remember when we used to walk downtown to the Department stores. Now I am afraid of going from my car to my house. Is my fear reasonable ? Yes it is . My family who lives in west Baltimore have been victims of numerous crimes.
