A friend of mine just gave me an ashtray from the White Swan Bar & Restaurant, which was located at the intersection of Ritchie Hwy. and Furnace Branch Road.

Does anybody remember the place, and exactly where it was located at that intersection? We can remember The Frigate being there, and The Embers nearby, but can't pin down just where the White Swan was.

Also, when did it close? Was it part of that string of mid-'70's Glen Burnie bar and restaurant fires that plagued the area at that time?

Are you sure it was in Glen Burnie? There was a White Swan restaurant in the Miller's Island/Edgemere area in the 1980s.

Here's what's printed on the ashtray:

"The White Swan Bar and Restaurant
Ritchie Hwy. and Furnace Branch Rd.
Glen Burnie, Maryland"

The White Swan in Glen Burnie would have been gone well before 1980.
