For a Baltimore neophyte...any suggestions for a neighborhood that's artsy, hip, diverse, inexpensive or emerging, and multi-racial (meaning basically people are okay with each other and get along)?

Thanks in advance.

Baltimore has many neighborhoods that fit that bill. Look at today's Baltimore Sun for the article about our local music and art scene. Charles Village, Hampden, Fells Point, Station North and pockets throughout many other neighborhoods including downtown are home to many hip, artsy folks.

Lots of neighborhoods fit the artsy, hip and emerging bill, but none of them are inexpensive and few are multi-racial.

Definitely look into Hampden!!!

Super artsy with really fun and funky shops and boutiques. Not very racially diverse at all though, unfortunately. But a really great and fun area. I love it. I have lived in Baltimore all my life and have been in Hampden for 2 years. Wouldnt dream of living anywhere else.

haha depending on your race you can make some areas multi racial just by moving in!
