I'm sure JHU officials have known about this for some time and have simply decided to get ahead of and control the story before the someone else finds out and goes public. They're basically following Georgetown U's footpath when it announced its historic connection to slavery a few years ago. To limit damage, JHU will probably create a handful a undergraduate scholarships for local AAs and call it a day. Everyone will soon forget. No reparations paid out. That's wishful thinking.

Spare me the apologies and museums

BTW, Jewish people are still hunting
Nazis who participated in the Holocaust.
No matter how old or sick they are
they are wheeled before a judge to
pay for their crimes.
I happen to agree with reparations.

Response to Sheena12:

Good to know.
I was not trying to troll you.
I am just tired of the response
to a celebrated figure who
was a slaveholder is to dismantle
their statues or take their name
off of a building. Not that I am
saying you responded in that way.
If people were more thorough in
that way, they would stop using
certain paper money, change the
name of the nation's Capitol, and
stop using a certain flour for cooking
or baking.

How can this even be surprising? Slavery was rampant. Heck there are practical slaves till this day even.

Well now that Trump is not going to be POTUS for another 4 yrs, you dont have to worry about rioting/looting and destruction of all things JHU. Things seemed to have calmed down once a Democrat elected.
