I generally think of Charles Village proper as safe. The closer to Johns Hopkins the better. As you get outside of it, things can go down hill in a hurry.

Other than some petty crimes taking advantage of JHU students, its relatively safe. There was a robbery that went bad several years ago, and the young man died. It made the national news.

Charles Village isn't a dangerous neighborhood at all. If you stayed away from CV because it was relatively "close" to some sketchy neighborhoods you'll have no place to live in Baltimore & a lot of other major cities.
