I am in Kansas City and our summers are hot - I mean heat index of 112 degrees, ozone alert don't mow or fill up your gas tank until evening kind of hot. Stay inside and if you don't have air conditioning the Salvation Army has cooling centers open all over the metro from 8-5. It isn't like this the whole summer and of course some years are better than others but it is usually hot and oh so humid. July and parts of Aug are no breeze in the high 90's with 80-90% humidity. Is Baltimore that hot?
Thanks

The simple answer to your question would be yes. In particular, Baltimore (and much of the East Coast for that matter) is notorious for its very high humidity.

Actually, I'm going to have to disagree with oneworld. I grew up in Kansas City, then moved out here to Baltimore 2 years ago. So far, I've found the summers here much more tolerable that what I was used to in the midwest. I does get hot from time to time, and there is always moisture in the air, but the heat index rarely breaks into triple-digits. I can only think of two weekends so far this summer where I thought I was too hot to go outside for more than a few minutes, and even then, there was a storm, the haze lifted and it was beautiful again for several weeks. The coast is much milder than the middle of the country.

Agree with Altas, There are no cooling center in Maryland. Maybe for the elderly, but I'm not there yet. Yeah, there are warnings not to exert yourself, but no ozone warnings. What, is KC closer to the sun then MD. They don't even do that in LA California.

Yes, there are indeed ozone warnings in Baltimore/MD, as well as the entire DC metro area.

There are six cooling centers that are activated when the health dept. declares a "Code Red" day.

Speaking of summer weather. I have to say that today had probably the best weather all summer. Wow, it was great. I walked all the way to work today and didn't sweat!!! Hit Bo Brooks patio for an early dinner: beautiful breezes. I wish they could all be like today.

I've been in Baltimore for over 30 years and typical weather is hazy, hot and humid. This year has been an exception. It is August and we are barely breaking 80-85, very unusual for this neck of the woods. There are cooling centers in MD for those ozone action days and anyone can go to them. We rarely have heat indices over a hundred but it is still frequently sticky in this region. Hope this helps.

This morning I had to run upstairs to my apartment and grab a sweatshirt...and switch from iced coffee to hot coffee. It's truly bizarre. This is AUGUST. It should be absolutely foul outside...but it's beautiful. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.
