Getting ready to relocate to the Baltimore area. Rather not stay right smack in the city areas, am considering either White Marsh or Ellicott City. Several people have recommended White Marsh, however, Ellicott City seems to be highly recommended. Also, which rental communities in either area are desireable?

Thank you.

I lived in Ellicott City for about 6 years and I thought it was a great city. It is a little more heavily populated now, but not to an extreme. I would highly recommend it, and I plan to move back there at some point in the future. As far as rental communities, there are a lot of nice private locations, but it really depends on how much you are willing to spend. Howard County is certainly not the cheapest place to live in MD, but it is relatively affordable.

Either is preferable to right smack in the city. I think White Marsh is a nicer area.
