I wanted to know what I should do, I am traveling from Baltimore to Cape Cod, Massachusetts for Thanksgiving. I am available to leave Wednesday, Nov. 26th as I am a teacher and have to work that day. What time is the best to leave? I was thinking 8pm Wednesday. Any thoughts on times or routes? I have never driven for the Thanksgiving holiday.

I did the driving thing to Boston one time for Thanksgiving. After that experience, I always took the train. It was just way better without the aggravation. Good luck to you and have a happy holiday.

The later the better. Do most of the driving through the night.

If you want to avoid the traffic on 95, another less heavily traveled option is to take I-83 to Harrisburg, I-81 to Scranton, then I-84 into Connecticut. It's farther distance, but you're less likely to sit in traffic and avoid most of the tolls. Just don't run out of gas--it's very rural.

I agree that the later you go, the better (or get up at 4 am and go).
