There could be more by the time this is over. The moral of the story: don't lie.

Wonder if our O'malley is concerned now.. I have always thought that this was a fishing expedition with him being the trophy fish that will not get thrown back......

Wow, so much for "innocent until proven guilty!" Although I was never one of Mayor Dixon's biggest fans, she has certainly been under greater scrutiny than most other elected officials from day one. Give her a break, at least until she has been tried.

Default What No Dixon Commentary

I am surprised that there has been no commentary about Mayor Dixon's trial. I imagine that everyone is just as fed up and frustrated to have to deal with this on top of a resession and everything else that could go wrong in our fair city. I do think that it is unfortunate that Dixon has come to such a pass. I was noticing some positive things about the City since she came into office... streets were getting paved and Operation Orange Cones were all over the place, Druid Hill Park is getting new walkways and an entrance... Biketrails are popping up all over the place, development were still moving along slowly surrounding Casino site, Westport, State Center,...the idea of a Land Bank to expedite the redevelopment of blighted properties on its merit sounded good, but as we know many quasi politcos charged with managing these agencies often fail on the execution or operate with Darth Vader like qualities in skirting rules and procurement guidelines in order to build shadow governments and evil empires to serve them and their supporters.

..Crime notwithstanding..it seemed like things were moving in a positive direction for the City at some levels. Dixon is being charged on crimes she committed while she served as City Council President.. she often says that she was a different person then than she is now.. I guess shes "evolved" over time and is now a much more refined politico....which may be true but she is on trial now for her previous actions though a jury in the City may certainly use it as a referendum on her tenure as Mayor (a challenge for the Prosecutor)...which has not necessarily been stellar.. but for average City Dwellwers has it been that bad ????

What do you expect when an "indictment" is considered a "verdict?" I guess the cards are stacked against her.

Default Sheila Dixon's record

I don't know what stellar means in politics, but Sheila Dixon's performance as a mayor has been quite remarkable. I have been a steady critic of her over the years -- and my newspaper articles prove that, but I never expected her to be this good. She and her administration have been able to perform under all this stress!
As to a mink coat and other stuff, I would be surprised if there is a jury in Baltimore City that will convict her. We'll see. Every woman (of various races) that I have asked about the criminality of receiving a mink from a boyfriend has declared her innocent. Many have said they always wanted a mink but no boyfriend/husband ever gave one. Vox populi.

It's not the mink that infuriated people. It's the gift cards for the poor kids she kept. Something so small, yet so telling.

Just don't require an ambulance or have anything you want catch fire. She's destroyed public safety in this city so she can fund pet projects like hotels and slot parlors.
