Hello. I'm relocating to DC to take a job in Capitol Hill (near Union Station). I am looking at buying a home in the MD Burbs -- Baltimore County seems least expensive --- and commuting to DC by commuter rail. I have about 260K to spend. I also have 2 young children (elementary age) and a spouse who is in the medical/healthcare field. Any opinions (neighborhoods, home prices, crime, commute, anything, etc, etc)? Thanks in advance!

Default Real estate

Hi looking to buy. You'll definitely want to be careful where you buy, some neighborhoods aren't great. Plus you're going to want good schools.

I don't have the number on me (because it's late) but you can contact my realator Debbie Taylor at DTaylor169@aol.com

She's great and very honest. She was wonderful helping us find our house. I felt sorry for the guy who sold this place, because his realator obviously was not looking out for his best interests. She keeps on top of things and watxhes out for her clients.

She can give you all the info you need. She may suggest you rent until you get familiar with the area. That way you have seen the area personally.

Tabitha

I think for that cost you may be able to get a townhouse. Not sure if single family homes are that cheap in Baltimore County. You would want to send your kids to schools where the children learn. I can get that data for you and post back which areas may be options for you.

Thanks. But, I have to say. I swear I am near having a heart attack looking at real estate prices in the DC/Balt area. LOL!! GEEEZ!!!! THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A TOWNHOUSE??????? That's over a quarter of a million dollars!!!!! :-) And for this price, you hardly have NO yard and your neighbors' house is ATTACHED to yours??? How in the WORLD do you people afford it? :-) Someone answer THAT one for me, please . . . for houses to cost THIS MUCH makes NO sense to me!
