You want Charles Village. Right on the JHU campus and a very cool place to live. I give you credit for teaching in the City school system. You will surely have plenty of war stories to tell after a few years, hell, after a few weeks.

There is an apartment building on the corner of St. Paul and 25th St that rents ONLY to Baltimore City teachers for lower rents. My sister lives there (she teaches at Montebello Elementary). PM me if you need more info.

I am a teacher in Baltimore City and lived in Charles Village for three years. Best time to find an apartment is in May when the JHU students go home for the summer. I'm going to continue recommending that people teaching in Baltimore look into the Charters and Transformation schools. Get hired through the city and then contact the schools directly instead of waiting for a placement. Lots of them are looking to hire now. They are smaller, have better student/teacher ratios, and tend to create better learning environments.
