Hi,

I'm moving to Maryland from California. After looking at rental prices in Columbia and researching other areas, I thought I would live in Charles Village and commute four days a week to Columbia.

Now, as a Los Angeles resident, I'm used to nightmare traffic. But is this commute a nightmare? Will I regret this?

I welcome -- and, frankly, beg -- for any advice.

Ashley

I do the opposite commute almost exactly. It takes me approx. 45-50 min rush hour. 35 in non-rush hour, and in extreme bad traffic 75 minutes (that's rare). There are several routes into the city to choose from which helps. The trickiest part of my commute is the local traffic as the highway doesn't get you near Charles Village. Local roads are more than half the commute.

You may, depending on the time you travel, have more difficulty than I have had if you try to take 95 S in the morning and 95 N at night. Even from Baltimore, DC traffic flows dominate. Charles Village is a cool area though. A lot of students.
