****I originally posted in the Maryland forum, here we go again!***
Hello, here is our situation. There is a chance we may be relocating to the Baltimore area within the next year or so. We have a 4 year old son with some speech delays and learning issues, and he may or may not be able to be served in a regular ed (versus a self-contained) classroom as he moves from kindergarten on to elementary school. I have read quite a few threads on the topic of which schools and neighborhoods in the Baltimore area are the "best", by which I think it is safe to say mean those with families which are stable and of a relatively high level socio-economic level. Does anyone here have personal experience with one of your special needs children being served well by a Baltimore city or county school? If it helps, areas we are specifically interested in are:
Towson/Annneslie
Mt Washington
Cheswolde
Cedarcroft
Rodgers Forge
Lutherville
Catonsville
Private schools are not an option for us at this time, nor is living in Roland Park or Homeland, which I understand have very strong public schools. Certainly the consensus on this site seems to be to avoid most of the city schools, but if there is a great spec ed staff/program out there in the city we would like to hear about it too. Howard County schools have been recommended, but I would like to hear more about Baltimore options because we think we'd would prefer to live there if possible.
Thanks in advance for your responses.[LEFT]
