Darling eldest daughter scored a paid internship at UMO Electrical Engineering Dept this summer! Where should she live... on campus in York Hall for @ 271 a week , yikes!) or on the outskirts of campus for cheaper? Suggestions? Former neighbor's daughter may have a sublet in Delmar Woods? (sp?) Any advice?

I vote for sublet option. Talmar Wood is a quick walk (as in...through one large parking lot and past the Farm building...) to the Engineering buildings...assuming they haven't moved everything around in the past few years... Plus.. with the apartment she'll have cooking facilities (so save money on the food, not having to buy them in campus eateries) and a private bathroom! That's *always* a plus.
(And P.S....it's called UMaine now... only the really old school folks call it UMO- lol!)

Does she have wheels? She should be able to score a furnished room for less than half of that in Bangor, I don't know about closer.

That sounds a little steep. Do they provide meals and maid service for that price?

Talmar Woods. I've known a few friends who have lived there over the years with mixed reviews. One had issues with mold in her apartment, two had 'issues' with difficult neighbors and one was okay with his apartment.

It seems she could find something more reasonable than 271 a week.

Maybe there's something in here (if she decides Talmar isn't for her)?

Congrats to your DD by the way.

I know some people who live 'downtown' and take in boarders. Do you wish a contact?

Is that $271 for one weeks rent? Seems outragous to me

I think the $271 is to live in the dorm, with a meal plan, if I'm not mistaken....
