Planning to visit eldest daughter at UMO for one week in July. Hope to
" kidnap" her to the ocean one weekend when she is off work. I am most familiar with S. Maine but now need to think Orono area! Thinking about Eastport, Roque Bluff State Park , Jonesport, Beals Island area or Schoodic. Love the Blueberry patch motel. I want to avoid most of the tourists!! Any suggestions?

I'd try Schoodic. It's really beautiful, and there aren't many tourists there. On the way back to the Bangor area, continue on down rt.1 to Cherryfield and come back to Elsworth through the Blackswoods Road(Rt. 182). It's wonderful.

I agree with Schoodic and any of the loop roads that run south of Route 1.
