I am from Texas and have never been to Maine nor have I ever eaten Maine lobster/seafood. I will be spending the nite in Bangor on Saturday, September 25. I would like to find a casual "outdoor-type" place to enjoy a lobster/seafood, and be able to drink a couple of cold beers and maybe smoke a cigar. I do not care for a "fine restaurant", or any thing fancy. Any recommendations for this area? Thanks for your response. You may send me a private email at phbarkerdi@gmail.com.

Pretty near every place sells some kind of lobster in Maine. Heck, for awhile you could get lobster sandwiches at the McDonalds in Ellsworth.

Ummmm, I would not recommend McDonalds!? Yeah, they got 'em. But...... ... ... ...but they don't serve beer!

Head over the bridge to Brewer for the Muddy Rudder. They have tables out back that look onto the Penboscot River. That's about the closest you are going to get in this area.
As for the smoking......restuarants are non smoking in Maine. You may even find that covers the outside areas as well.
Crack open that lobstah......dip it in some buttah......and enjoy!

Why not grab takeout from McLaughlin's Seafood and head to the waterfront? Great view, great breeze...can't ask for anything more!

Captain Nick's on Union St (across from the airport) is casual and has good food.

Ya' think? Now there was this place in Buffalo, NY, back in the 80's where McDonalds DID SERVE BEER. But I think you want a nice white wine with that, but probably only in Bar Harbor. Actually my preference there(here) has always been the Cadillac Mountain Stout.

Take advice from everybody. Just decide yourself which advice seems worthwhile and which advice has an axe to grind. Don't limit your advice at the source, limit it at the analysis. Everyone has good advice in limited areas, less good in other areas.

Don't forget the Coach House restaurant on Wilson Street in Brewer! Great prices, and the food is very, very good-- nothing fancy, typical "family" type of place... and I really want their pie crust recipe. ;-)
