My partner and I are looking to buy in the Bangor area. I work around here and he works up in Dover so we were hoping to buy somewhere inbetween (Corinth, Kenduskeag). However, we have been looking for a nice country quiet home in that area and haven't seen anything we have fallen in love with. This is our first home and I am petrified of being stuck with a home in the country somewhere if we do need to sell one day. Even though we both really want a nice quiet setting with some land, I think it would be smarter to wait until we are more settled. So we have been looking in the Bangor area. Can anyone suggest any nice neighborhoods with homes reasonably priced (under $175,000)? We really like the neighborhood behind St. Joes Hospital, it is nice and quiet back there with some really nice looking homes. We have only lived in Maine 3 years and spent most of that time in the Old Town area so I am not very familiar with Bangor. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

That area is called "Little City". There are some bargains there. I don't do cities.

Fortunately the area is local to you. All I can think of is to keep looking at places as they get listed, and talking to the neighbors.

We have looked at a few Multi-Family Buildings in the area around St. Jos that is a nice area [for being in town]

Little City is an excellent area. If I moved back to Bangor that is where I would look for a place.
