Looking at a few places, Rockland, Belfast, Freeport, Bucksport,Bangor. Any feedback on any of these areas as far as a nice place to live. Medical facilities near and some social life the only criteria. Being close to the ocean would be nice but not required. Just like a variety of things to do. Not into hikng or hunting.

Have you taken time to search the forum threads for a HUGE amount info on best place to live, senior center, senior college, retire in Maine etc. threads? You could also search the CD threads by towns/cities you have in your post. If not, please do so. You could also google Maine hospitals. EMMC in Bangor has a cardiac unit if you think you will need their services. There's at least one thread listing things to do for retirees. You say being close to the ocean would be nice but not required yet all of your locations except Bangor are on the coast. Are you into walking? Some places have walking trails (non mountainous). Please tell us what type of things you like to do and what kind of social life you want.

I have been searching the threads and perhaps not looking in the right ploaces. I have found much on Bangor, some brief comments such as "I like it" regarding a few other places but I don't see much on specifics in Belfast or Rockland or Bucksport. I go to the specifice websites and get a lot of historic and tourist info. I have learned that Bangor is better than Portland (to some) and that both have hospitals.
Again, the information on the other three including Freetport is limited or not there. I am not into hiking at the moment. Would like to have a group of peers to share chit chat, travell, day trips, etc. with. Church is important. Where does one do major shopping for furniture, clothing, etc in smaller places like bucksport, Rockland, etc. Bangor Iwould assume. If I chose Rockland would I travel to Brunswick for health care or is there somewhere closer for medical attention. I have no major issues at this time. I'm old, lol. I do appreciate your time. Thank You.

Guess I do prefer the coast, looking at the ocean.

Most of Maine is rural. Most of Maine is forested. Maine has a great many rivers, lakes and ponds. So for some of us retirees Maine offers a great deal.

Maine has over 3,000 miles of coast line, so there are a lot of areas to choose from along the coast.

There are small hospitals and clinics scattered everywhere, but the medical meccas are the bigger cities with; more people, more money and more tourism.
