Is there any other state in the country where you could go to work and find beans and hotdogs in the vending machine? Must have stocked it for the Saturday crew.

Sounds yummy now but when I was a child, I thought it was a perfect way to ruin a great Saturday....so I focused on the homemade yeast rolls and the brown bread. Were those also in the vending machine?

There was a thread here last summer where somebody asked where he could find a good burrito. I replied, "What's a burrito?" Never did get an answer.

"Brown bread"? Is that the same as what we call here, Pumpernikel?
If so agree its so much more interesting than white or whole wheat.

I know brown bread to come in a can. Open both ends and push it out. Slice and serve. It is delicious with steak & beans, hot dogs & beans etc.. Does anyone make it home made?

yes, it's my mom's top secret recipe but I'm sure there are plenty of them online.

No it's not pumpernickel. Here's a canned kind. Amazon.com: boston brown bread

Here's a recipe you might try. I don't use raisins. Yes, it takes a long time to steam it, but worth the wait. http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,164,...229201,00.html

Some things should be experienced. I'd pick a nice day for a drive and head to Bank Square Pizza in Eastport and have Marilu make a burrito for you. Get the beans and rice, too.
