My son in kindergarten got his first invitation to a birthday party! I was beginning to get worried that he wouldn't be invited to anyone's birthday this year, but on Friday he was so excited to show me the invitation that he had in his backpack! Bless his little heart. It's at Old Town Bowling Alley, and I hear they have really good pizza there. He is going to have so much fun. Yippee!

oh txmom that's great!! Speaking from experience that's sometimes a hard age to move into the area, and it's important to be patient. The reason it's sometimes difficult is because kids come home and are so excited to be making friends with other kids, but we as parents don't always know who the heck they're talking about and how to contact the parents for a play date. We went through that with Jake when we moved here to Calais. The older kids didn't have that problem because they were move likely to swap numbers, and of course now emails, cell #s, etc. One good way around all of this is to volunteer--if you have the time and temperment of course Volunteering at school, with scouts, or after school programs puts you in a position to learn who the other kids are, meet their parents, and gets you out into the community--granted for a while you'll be known as "Tom's mom" or whoever, but that's not so bad either ....well, most of the time!

Good for him (and you). He will have a ball, and you will get to put some faces to the names of his classmates if you can't already.
