Hi there,

I'm currently in the process of relocating from Florida to Maine. My lease is up in only a few days so I'm quite desperate to get out and find a place. I am primarily looking to get away from the city and replenish and renew myself, even if for a short while before finding somewhere better.

Is Kenduskeag a terrible place to live, honestly? This rental here is one of the best options financially and availability wise.

I don't know anything about it other than googling some statistics/photos which i'm on the fence about. It's not my ideal for the long-term future but just wondering if a single female in her late 20's would be advised to live there - safety, quality of life, etc for the next several months.

Thanks so much!

No, it’s not a terrible place by any extent. It’s rural, not particularly wealthy, but not too far from Bangor, which qualifies as a small city. Safety certainly isn’t an issue. Quality of life? I guess it depends what is important to you. If you value shopping, restaurants, cultural amenities, and lots of people around who are your age, Kenduskeag will disappoint you. If you value living in a small town without much going on, peace and quiet, outdoor activities, and a sense of community, it could work. Know that winters are long and cold.

Please visit for a few days before you decide to move here. That’s the best thing you can do up front to avoid disappointment. Kenduskeag is much, much different than Florida.

Kenduskeag village is the heart and start of the kenduskeag stream canoe race. One deli, gas station, a church or two and the mystic tie grange hall and a couple of houses.

Plenty of fiddle heads, K stream rises in garland pond, no flooding worries.

Maybe 20 minutes outside of Bangor proper.

Drive you must, to get anywhere.
