What year did he stop working there? His name rings a bell. My uncle ran the place for several years and I worked there during summer in the late 80's early 90's. I have a cousin who still works there and has been there quite a while.

My husband was a journalist in Maine in the late 70s and early 80s. He said he took photos of a few of the people who make the boats back around 1978, including photos of the men who made wood strip canoes and wood paddles.
