Glenburn is called a bedroom community of Bangor. There is no Downtown, or town the way most people think of one. It is 15 - 30 minutes from Bangor depending on your location in Glenburn. There are gas stations (not many) c-store or 2, a furniture store. Pushaw lake is in Glenburn , which has been extremely built up in the last 10 years. Mostly it is rural housing and subdivisions, and popular because it is so close to Bangor.
We use to go to the lake alot when I was a child, but now it doesn't even look like the same place. For that matter, neither does Bangor.

If you are looking more for a small town atmosphere, There was recently news that Hermon has approved some major construction to turn it's town center into a shopping district. It will still be small but you'll be able to get what you need without going into Bangor. Hermon is just west of Glenburn and the same distance from Bangor.
