Did anyone else read the story in the paper today about the Old Man in the Mountain? Looks like the profile of a mans face imo. Certainly not as defined as the one that slid down the slope in NH... but do you think it has the hook to become a bonafide attraction for Bangor?

I read it - found it very interesting. I do think it looks more like an old native american woman 'tho... Maybe it's just my interpretation.

As far as being a hook...I suppose it's possible.

Where we lived in Texas, it was high desert mountains. You can find "faces" everywhere. There's a well known one that's a profile of Lincoln. And I do mean a profile. It looks EXACTLY like his profile from the pictures that have been done of him lying on his deathbed after he was shot. There are a lot of "profiles" in the desert mountains. I guess they're easier to see without the trees.

There is a range of mts in NH that looks like "Lincoln lying In State", from the tips of his toes all the way to his head.....doesnt take much imagination to see it....once you know what your looking for.

Maybe they should put that on their license plates and road signs instead of the imaginary landslide version which is now gone. New Hampshire....Land of Dead Lincoln.

I think the thing with NH is there are other attractions along with the "old Man in the MT" bit.. I can't believe people are driving all the way there just to see a rock that looks like a face..

Maybe bangor can tie it in with hollywood slots somehow..
