Actually, I'm not sure what everybody's beef is about. How many of us complain regularly about not being represented by Washington? Besides the Fed form I had to make out for a rifle purchase was the equivalent of shoving a microscope up my ^$#. How could this be worse?
The short form seems nice enough. I really don't want to take the time to do a long form.

Reminds me of a scene from one of my favorite movies, "Oh, Brother, Where art Thou", when the little farm boy holding the 12 gauge says, "Poppa tol' me Ah kin shoot at any one from thuh bank. Ah nicked the census Man!"

Maybe they're trying to drum up a little business for the USPS... I thought the same thing...what a waste of money.

I'm sure it had to do with some "notification" legality or another.

I don't have any problem with the short form, but I think this (pasted below from the link given previously) goes a little overboard. Maybe it's just me. Knowing the population and basic demographics is a good thing IMO.

I understand that they're fishing to assess the "needs" of the population, but somehow, IMO, I think representatives time would be better served talking to the rumbling masses and actually answering their questions, than to spend the time perusing statistical information.

As far as the Census workers go, I'd like to see people remember that they are gathering statistical information for the government, but they are NOT the dartboard for the government. Besides, they're working - which as far as I'm concerned, is always a good thing. I have a friend who works full time yet ran out of oil twice this year due to a lack of overtime and kids who seemed to catch every plague going around this year, so she's applied for temp work as a Census worker to catch up with her bills. I hope people remember not to shoot the messenger. Yeesh.
