Not just the amount, but also the length of the contract...how many clubs would be willing to ink a 37 year old shortstop for ages 37, 38, 39 and 40...even at seven million a year?

Maybe Sabean a few years back, but he has wised up recently.

There might have been other offers not released by Jeters agent also. Remember, Boston tried getting Mo on a 2 yeard deal for the same price we resigned him for.

When I thought about it I figured he'd probably get no more than 3 years from anyone but I do think ke would have signed for alot more than people are estimating. If you watched his press conference you saw a quiet guy who refrains from using the media for making a spectacle of himself or any organization. Jeter carries himself like a celebrity/athlete should and would have been paid accordingly. He's a guy who sells jerseys and puts butts in the seats.

The above list of virtues is something which would have value only to the Yankees who have marketed Jeter as such. That all these things would translate into aura and mystique for another club is a doubtful proposition.

There are plenty of ballplayers who are just as virtuous as Jeter, but appreciated as such only by the local fans who are aware that Soandso is a good character as well as being a roster member. These guys have salaries based on their on field skills, not on their personalities or alleged intangible qualities. Jeter, anywhere but New York, would be in the same class in terms of value to a club.

I never cared for the woman, so I was glad to see her reduced to these circumstances. The implications of her appearance are either: A) She has so badly squandered the fortune she made as a performer that she has been compelled to hustle crap on the shopping channel to make ends meet, or B) Her need to be in the public eye is great, the demand for the same no longer exists, and though she doesn't need the money, she is deperate enough that she would take this gig just to be on tv.
As a Merchandise Transport Specialist (truckdriver) I have capitalized on Ms. Carey's products. The stuff is selling very well.

She's pregnant. Not by Jeter.

I was thinking maybe $14 million, but let's face it. The man has to eat.
