I agree they are all really durable. Just seems like something always happens when you get a group of guys together that just seem like they are going to run away with it.
You mean like Domonic Brown, Chase Utley, and Brad Lidge all getting injured before the season even starts
Halladay has been on the DL once in the last 3 years. Has made 98 starts (13th in baseball) and 735.2 innings (most in baseball)
Lee has been on the DL once in the last 3 years. Has made 93 starts (33rd in baseball) and 667.1 innings (5th most in baseball)
Hamels has not been on the DL in the last 3 years. Has made 98 starts (13th in baseball) and 629.2 innings (14th most in baseball)
Oswalt has been on the Dl once in the last 3 years. Has made 94 starts (30th in baseball) and 601.2 innings (22nd most in baseball).

Yeah. Pitchers get injured. But it's hard to find a rotation that has been more durable than what the Phillies have put together.
Too bad the Phillies could not assemble this staff 3 years earlier. Slim chance of that level of durability continuing for another 3 years .
I'm expecting a really big year for Justin Verlander and we'll all get to see him Thursday afternoon. If he and Sabathia are both sharp, it will not be a fun day for the hitters.
Looks like a rainout and/or snowout tomorrow. Probably a good thing for the Yankees. Sabathia is not a good cold weather pitcher.

Hamels is 27, no real age related injury concerns to uhh...be concerned about. He's also a free agent after 2011.
Oswalt is a free agent after 2011. The Phillies have a team option for 2012.
The risk of any starting pitcher going on the DL during any season is about 40%. So, yeah, there's pretty good chance one of these guys will go on the DL this season. But these guys have less of a chance than most pitchers.
I note that the Nationals are using their new rightfielder in the # 2 slot in the lineup. Werth singled in four at bats in his Washington debut, which wasn't enough to prevent a 2-0 loss to Atlanta.
The Braves rightfielder, also named Jason, got off to a good start with a homerun and a walk in three plate appearances. He bats 6th in the Braves order. Five Braves pitchers combined for the shutout.
The Padres and Cardinals have just gone into extra innings in St. Louis. The Cardinals have 12 hits in the game, every member of the starting eight has at least one hit....except Albert Pujols who is 0-4. He's due to bat in the bottom of the 10th.
Update....Albert now 0-5...he just grounded into his third double play of the day.
And he has the nerve to want a ten year mega contract.
Mark Buehrle is making his 9th straight opening day start for the south siders today (weather permitting), which is the most of anyone in franchise history - over 100 years of baseball. Buhrls is fairly young as well, and his style of pitching would seem to be condusive to a career that will go near, if not past 40 years of age. I for one hope to see him on the bump opening day for many more years, he has been one of the classiest, easy going guys I have ever seen play professional sports in this city.
I don't know if he will end up in the hall, but his resume is impressive, between the innings he has pitched, the quality starts, the perfect game, the no hitter, the defense....All with a smile on his face. Even if he gets lit up today, I'm still ecstatic that he is our opening day starter, again.
