I can't imagine the list would be that long.

Edit- I see Gary Sheffield essentially finished his career with those numbers (just north of 500 and over 2500, but shy of 3000). I guess he would be a good test case in this discussion.
Sheff was a much better player than Konerko.

Sheff: .292/.393/.514 141 wRC+, 66.7 WAR, 3.7 WAR/600 PA
Konerko: .282/.357/.501 121 wRC+, 26.7 WAR, 2.1 WAR/600 PA

We've really got to stop using lifetime records as the yardstick for HoF credentials. If Konerka hasn't established himself among his contemporaries as a HoF player in 15 years, I fail to see what he could possibly do to become a genuine HoFer by accumulating years beyond peak or even shoulder productivity. If he got hurt today and ended his career, would he lose his HoF cred? Only if he never had any in the first place. We're talking about a guy who was only picked for the All Star team four times, and played almost 300 games as a DH.

No, just the shallowness of my spell-check reservoir.

Cheating Yankees steal another undeserved win, with a phony HBP in the bottom of the 12th. When will the umpires catch on? Or are Yankee losses ( = revenue losses) not a part of the big picture, which is all about money.

The balk is the stupidest rule in baseball. A huge majority of them are incidents that could not possibly give the defense any advantage whatsoever. It is tantamount to having the judges award games on the basis of choreography. Yes, there needs to be a penalty for a pitcher intentionally attempting to deceive the offense. No such penalty is imposed on the offense. It would be like calling a batter out for adjusting his stance while the pitcher is on the rubber.

Change the rules, so the outcome of the game is based on merit of play, and not conformity with silly theatricals. What if this had been the 7th game of the world series. Is that how you want it decided?

Do you have a specific proposal for what the rule should be?
