Jose Reyes is on a pace to hit 26 Triples. The last player to do that was Kiki Cuyler, in 1925.
Only nine players have hit as many as 20 Triples since WWII: Jimmy Rollins, Lance Johnson, Willie Mays, Stan Musial, Curtis Granderson, Christian Guzman, Willie Wilson, George Brett, Dale Mitchell. Mitchell is more famous for being Don Larsen's final out. Musial hit 20 triples twice, and also led the league in Doubles both of those years, the only player to lead the league more than once in both doubles and triples since Cobb and Wagner. Musial did it an amazing four times. Two of those years, he led the majors in both doubles and triples. Once, he came within one home run of leading the league in 2B, 3B and HR.

Now, Torii Hunter has replaced Albert Pujols on the leaderboard to break the all-time GIDP record, on a pace for 39.

At the time of this post Rizzo had 0 singles, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run.

He now has 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and the 1 home run.

I believe that he is on a pace to end his career with 1 of each type of hit.

Has anybody ever hit for a career cycle before?

If Chris Duncan had ended his career at the end of May, 2006, his lifetime stat would have been 0 singles, 1 double, 0 triples, and 2 home runs. With the two homers coming in two different seasons.

Only Rizzo. He needs to retire now to reserve his place in history

James Loney hit:
.241/.248 (OBP/SLG) in April
.350/.413 in May
.369/.407 in June

If he continues his .360/.410 pace for the rest of the season Loney will end up with a final batting line of: .339/.382

The league average hitter right now is hitting .320/.390

Loney could rebound to have a league average season

Which is still terrible for a first baseman.

Dustin Ackley has seen 49 pitches this year. 32 strikes and 17 balls.

He has swung at 21 of them and made contact 21 times.

He's on pace to go the entire season without whiffing on a single pitch

Kemp now has 20 home runs and 20 steals in 76 games, putting him on a pace for 43 home runs and 43 steals

To update our early season fascination with not drawing walks, here is the current leader board for most non-walk plate appearances (PA-BB):
The Melkman 311
Rickie Weeks 311
Jose Reyes 310
Asdrubal Cabrera 308
Starlin Castro 306
Juan Pierre 305
Adrian Gonzalez 304
Ichiro! 303
Drew Stubbs 303
Jacoby Ellsbury 302
Austin Jackson 302
Elvis Andrus 300

Vladamir Guerrero has drawn 7 walks in 272 plate appearances and is well down on the list.

As far as I can tell, Alfonso Soriano holds the record for the most plate appearances in a season not resulting in a walk. In 2002 Soriano came up to bat 741 times and drew only 23 walks. 718 times Soriano came to the plate and did not walk.

Melky Cabrera is on a pace for 681 walkless trips to the plate this season.
