Paul Goldschmidt is leading the majors in Plate Appearances, even though he bats third in the lineup. He is also on a pace to break every record in baseball for a player with six consecutive consonants in the spelling of his last name, surpassing all records currently held by the Knightsbridge Strings. Which has 20 letters in its name, only four of them vowels, which is one of its strengths.

Unfortunately, in spite of Goldschmidt's heroic efforts for those with aversions to vowels, the Diamondbacks are currently on pace to surpass the 03 Tigers for worst record in a 162-game season. Currently down 9-0 to the Mets, which if it holds would send their record to 4-13, a 38-144 pace.

They had those two extra mid-season games that they played last winter in Australia. So, really, they should only be 4-11. with two additional games remaining against the Dodgers.

With 16 runs for the Mets in 2 games, perhaps they should install a pool in Citi Field.

Last winter? They were only a week early, and unfortunately they count. Also, I meant 38-124. They're well on their way to getting swept by the Mets this afternoon...down 3-0 going in to the 7th.
