CINCINNATI (AP) -- Reds pitcher Mike Leake was arrested on a shoplifting charge at a downtown department store Monday, accused of trying to steal six shirts with a total value of $59.88.
The 23-year-old starter was booked at the Hamilton County Justice Center on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of shoplifting. It carries a maximum of 180 days in jail.
Dude makes $400 thousand a year and had a $2 million signing bonus
Well, that ends his hopes that he will ever get into the Hall of Fame.
In the kinds of stores he shops at, $60 worth is probably a half a shirt.
I remember watching the first game he ever pitched in the majors, and there were camera shots of his family in the stands. At the end of one inning, they cut to a shot of them, with Dad getting out of his seat and heading up the aisle. I was waiting for the commentator to say "There goes Dad, living up to his name."
This just proves that the more you have the less you'll spend.
