I used to always overreact when things were down. It's not even mid May yet!!!

Furcal is hurt, Blake is hurt.

I'm not saying the Dodgers are going to win the west. But it's still too early to throw in the towel. The division is looking like as long as the team can stay within .500 till beginning of August they have a shot.

If I had to place my bets I'd say yea..the Dodgers won't win the division. But all it takes is a hot streak and they could get back into things. Just like the Giants did last year in the playoffs.

The Dodgers have scored 128 runs, good for third in the NL West, trailing Arizona and Colorado which are both high scoring environments. Their pitching is actually the larger concern at the moment, in runs allowed the NL West ranks:

Giants..121
Rockies..126
Padres..128
Diamondbacks..161
Dodgers..163

The Dodgers have:

-5.7 batting runs (19th)
-.9 defensive runs saved (17th)
22.3 starting pitching runs saved (18th)
-2.1 relief pitching runs saved (26th)

The hitting, the pitching and the defense have all been mediocre.

Only the pitching really figures to improve
